经过四轮小组循环赛，10月9日下午，水建学院男排击败植保学院首次晋级联赛八强，顺利出线。比赛过程中，学院男排教练刘正杰、李定在场指导，团工委书记卢小三也到场给运动员们加油。
由于植保学院男排有事延误，本场比赛推迟，水建学院运动在场上做了简单的热身，等待对方队友。比赛一开始，双方都没能进入比赛状态，连续的失误给了对方得分的机会。第一次换场后，双方气势明显不同，水建学院陈聪聪的成功拦网屡次造成对方气势下落，植保的默契配合也毫不示弱，一度打乱了水建的阵型。经过激烈的相互防与攻，最终水建学院赢得本场比赛。
赛后，刘正杰教练给运动员对本场比赛做了总结，指正个别队员要注意的问题，并期待同学们在八强比赛中有更加优秀的表现。
